From passion to idea, from idea to business
The birth of idea
The observation of a booming market, led by a global company from Switzerland, and the will to give espresso coffee its Italian motherhood back: these are the bases on which 101CAFFE’ concept store was born, guided by the vision of its founder and CEO Mr.Umberto Gonnella
The experimentation of the business model in a store (mandatory according to law 129/2004) was carried out for one year, with very positive results since its starting-up. This kicked off the launch of the 101CAFFE’ franchise network.
The first franchised stores
After having attended the Franchising Exhibition in Milan, the first 101CAFFE’ franchisees were born. Some of them have opened up to 5 stores over time.
The first store abroad
The expansion over the border began in the land of our “neighbors”: Switzerland, home of the world’s biggest company in the sector of industrial portioned coffee.
The brand reaches its first important stage: 101 stores in Italy and abroad. The points of sale are becoming more and more performing, thanks also to the franchisor company (headquarter), which gives its franchisees any kind of support and service in every area of the business.

Italy continues to lead the way with its stores and the first duplications begin also abroad.
Concrete acknowledgments from consumers, who assign to 101CAFFE ‘in just one year two very important international awards: “My Product of the Heart”, won by the NAPOLETANO coffee of the Premium line, and “Sign of the Year”, which in the “Tutto Caffè ”sees 101CAFFE ‘winner by beating Nespresso® in consumer satisfaction votes.
