Cicoria by 101CAFFE’: from root to cup for a tasty and versatile drink
Chicory is a wild plant with many food properties.
It was frequently used in the past as an alternative to traditional coffee and today it has been revalued by science for its beneficial properties.
Chicory coffee comes from roasted chicory roots; during the world war it was frequently used instead of real coffee because it was much cheaper but had however a good taste.
In the cup it looks like coffee but does not contain any caffeine. It can be drunk with or without sugar or with milk, just like coffee. With a slightly bitter but mild taste.
