101RECIPES: Coffee Candies

Coffee Candies

Ingredients 

  • 100 ml of espresso coffee (= 2 espresso cups)
  • 300 gr white sugar
  • 250 ml of whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of butter
  • 1 tablespoon of 00 flour
  • 1 egg yolk

 

Procedure

To make your coffee candies, first prepare the coffee.
Once it is ready, put it in a saucepan along with all the other ingredients, turn on the heat and keep stirring until the mixture starts to boil.
At this point, let it boil for half an hour over low heat so that the mixture becomes thick. When you see that it has thickened, pour the coffee candy mixture into a rectangular casserole dish that you previously lined with baking paper. When the mixture has solidified a little, carefully transfer it to a work surface using the baking paper, which will remain as a base. Now cut the hardened mixture with a knife into strips about 1.5 cm wide, first vertically and then horizontally, forming squares. Now let your coffee candies cool completely. When they are cooled and hardened just right, wrap them one by one in the baking paper. They are little treats to share with whomever you like, a sweet gesture that takes us all back to childhood: the experience of unwrapping candy.
